Space Smooches

Evening everyone!

We did try to take in a dip in our pool, with the weather being beautiful.  Unfortunately it was not a particularly pleasant experience, and lasted about five minutes before we called it quits and went inside to warm up.

I've been doing some research and seeing if I can find some other CAS challenge blog sites.  I'm enjoying the CAS designs.  I find them super tough as I naturally like to stick as much glitter and embellishments as possible.  But I like the CAS as I tend to be plan them out first - if you aren't using many elements, you really have to work out where you're going to put everything!

My first card today uses my very first Paper Smooches set.  I love this space theme, and I can't wait to get the science set too!

I wanted to do another black and white card, and this time used my new WOW! and Zing! Embossing Powders.    I die cut a circle from the  black card front and then traced this in pencil on the white card behind to ensure I got the space dude in the right place.   I stamped and embossing him in WOW! Bay Area Blue and coloured some parts in a Memento black marker.   The stars and moon are stamped in black glitter Zing! powder.

The WOW! powder is really good - somewhat finer than the Zing! powder, which makes it easy to get more detail. The sentiment is stamped in Hero Arts white embossing powder and white maker used for faux stitiching to finish.

I wanted to also enter this card in the CAS on Sunday Challenge which was Black, White plus one, given i only used three colours here!

My second card was to try and see how embossing in clear on ColorBox pigment ink works on black paper.  As you can see, it works great!  Really impressed :)

The black card was dry embossed with a CuttleBug folder (Birds & Swirls) approx 4/5ths way down, and American Crafts hemp ribbon (from a multipack) added a finishing touch.  The sentiment is from the Stampendous 'Birthday Wish'.  The bird is from Inkadinkado's 'Birds Galore'.

Right it's been a late one for me today, more to come next week.  Thank you for keeping tuned and visiting!!

Banner Mad

Happy weekend all!

I'm finally back from the UK and excited to see that our pool is all clean and almost ready to use (small issue with the freezing temperature but hopefully that's going to change soon!)  I've been itching to get back to the craft desk today after a week spent in hotels and the office until late.   And how exciting, my birthday gift order from Simon Says Stamp arrived - woohoo! Just in time for:

It just so happened that I ordered some banner AND flag dies so what a good opportunity.   I made two cards for this challenge.  I wanted to go with a black and white theme, to keep it really clean. Both cards used the same flag die from SSS and sentiments from Stampendous 'Birthday Wish'.

The first card uses the negative space from the die, enabling the pretty paper from My Minds Eye 'Meadowlark' to show through.  Two tiny crystals finish the flag bows.   My boyfriend really liked this one - I think it could be used for a guy's birthday card no problem.   The sentiment is embossed in white Hero Arts embossing powder.

The second card uses the full die, cut from black card stock, again two little crystals for the bows, and I layered white card stock heart die cut shapes on top (same die set).  The sentiment is embossed in black Tsukinenko embossing powder. The white Bazzill Avalanche Card (Grass Cut texture in both cards) was then layered onto black cardstock with foam adhesive.

I really like these cards - both pretty classy, neutral for a man or woman, and very few materials required :)

Bye for now,

Congratulations Challenge

Good afternoon everyone!

Posting this from surprisingly sunny London, England today.  It's my first card challenge for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge.

This is actually my first Congratulations card too! I had some border stamps recently purchased from Hobby Lobby on sale so I thought I'd try them out.

I stamped the alphabet border all the way down the card in Memento ink and then for each letter in Congratulations I punched a tiny heart, coloured it with the corresponding Memento ink and then stamped the relevant letter. These were then glued and glossy accented. The white card was foam adhesive mounted on a white card backer. Super quick!

I used all my different Memento inks on this one almost! That's it from me for today as I'm working in the UK  and don't have any chance for crafting this week. Boo!

Have a fun week,
