Freshly Made Butterflies

34
Hi All

Today I'm playing the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  I made two cards because halfway through the first, I had an idea for the second, so had to do it!

The butterfly was die cut from Neenah Solar White card stock using Simon Says Stamp Devonshire Butterfly die.  I spritzed it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Pearl and left it to dry while I prepared the card base. The paper was cut from a SSS card kit snipped into banners, and glued to a card base with the same Neenah Solar White card stock.  I also used some Doodlebug White Sprinkles vellum to base my butterfly, corner chomped to fit the sketch.  I attached it by hiding the glue behind the dots - sneaky :D I liked the vellum idea because it doesn't hide the pretty patterned paper.

After adhering the butterfly with some glue dots, I flipped up the ends of the banners, and added some sequins in iridescent pink. The simple sentiment is from a SSS set called Perfect Love.  I stamped it in Soft Pink Blossom Hero Arts shadow ink.  In hindsight, i should have stamped this BEFORE i added the butterfly and sequins!

OK onto card number 2.  The idea I had for this originally was to do the sketch completely as a one layer card, using stamps and dry embossing.  As you can see, it morphed into a shaker card!

The die cut frame and banner stamps are all from a Studio Calico card kit.  I used Tide Pool Hero Arts Shadow Ink and Delicata in Golden Glitz (LOVE that ink).   I stamped the borders across the background and the frame, which was popped up on a double layer of foam tape, and gold and pool sequins behind used for the shaker.

The butterfly was created by using embossing paste on white card stock and sprinkling Ranger Gold embossing powder over it.  When the paste is dry, heat the powder to melt.  I then sprayed it with Buccaneer Bay Blue Lindy's Stamp Gang Moon Shadow Mist so it pooled up between the embossing paste and left it to dry.   I then die cut the butterfly with the SSS Chrissy die and glued it on with foam tape and glue dots for dimension.   The sentiment is from SSS too.

Love weekends, when I get to play!

Jenny
