I hope you all had a wonderful 4th July! We're currently in Acadia National Park in Maine and loving it! More on that when we return.
Onto the card for today - and it's for the AAA Cards Challenge, this time we're looking at 'Stars' (of course!) And my favorite subject matter for cards.
I have been using my Desktop File Inspiration set from Papertrey ink to put together some color combos (using Pinterest for some of it) and I've done just that for this card - see my 'Card Inspiration' Board on my Pinterest site. I was inspired by the below color board.
I took this and tried to match the colors to those in my inks collection. I then used the Desktop File Inspiration set to create the color combo below.
So how did I use this for the card? I decided to go super-CAS again and used one stamp set and some masking :) Check out my video on the techniques used:
I took a top folding card in Hero Arts Earth paper (dispensing with the Vintage Cream ink this time) and masked off the entire card front using Inkadinkadoo Masking Paper except for a die cut star shape in the front (from Spellbinders Nesting Stars dies). I then stamped almost all of the sentiments in the various ink colors using the Thanks set from Simon Says Stamp.
Before I peeled off the mask, I lightly blended some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink around the edges to ensure there was more definition without overpowering the sentiments. For the main sentiment I used the co-ordinating Thanks die from SSS, cut from DCWV glitter card stock. I embellished with a few hearts using the SSS Holiday Shapes die, and finished it off with some glossy accents on the stamped heart.
I'm really pleased with how this turned out and the possibilities for using up your sentiment stamps are limitless (different color combos, die cuts, you name it!)
I hope you enjoyed the card for today. Please jump on over to the AAA Cards Challenge blog to join in the fun. It runs for 2 weeks from July 5th to July 18th. Who doesn't LOVE a great star card challenge :)
Have a wonderful rest of weekend and I'll see you again very soon once we're back from Maine!
