Hello Beach! - AAA Cards Challenge

34
Hi All,

It's toooooo hotttt out outside! Our inside temp has been regularly hitting 85F (at which point I hit the central AC - I'm a Brit and we can be known to be penny pinchers... although that might just be me... :D)  Needless to say at 29 weeks pregnant, I've felt a little uncomfortable.  Other than that, the baby is doing fine, and I can't believe it is only 11 weeks to go.  EEK. I have finally painted the nursery (a silvery grey, white and one wall is deep purple) and I have a bunch of silver stars I'll be putting up soon.  Slowly getting there.

Anyway, onto today's card which is for the AAA Cards Challenge 'It's So Hot' - how appropriate!  I used the August Simon Says Stamp card kit which has some really cool summery imagery and colors.

The card base is cut from SSS Smoke Gray cardstock. I diecut some of the Hello patterned paper from Simple Stories 'Summer Vibes' 6x6 pack, using the SSS Stitched Rectangles frames and adhered it directly to the card base.  I then cut the Carrot Stick shimmer cardstock included in the kit with the same die, and again with the new MFT Peekaboo Circle Window die so that the patterned paper peeps through.  The shimmer cardstock was popped up on the Best Creation foam squares included in the kit.

By the way, this new die from MFT is amazing.  It's so versatile, and will really enable lots of patterned papers to be used from my stash!!

I used the Flip Flop Season stamp set from the kit to stamp the '100% Happy' circle stamp in SSS Duckling dye ink, popped it on foam tape, then added a puffy sticker from the October Afternoon Summertime set.  I also fussy cut the 'Beach' arrow from a piece of the paper set and adhered it to the card, and another puffy sticker heart for good measure.

For the flip flops I stamped them in Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink on patterened paper from the kit, and fussy cut them out.  I went around the edges in a matching marker and finally colored the straps in the glitter Sakura pen from the kit. They were popped up on foam squares, and tat finishes the card.

Such a great card kit, and so appropriate for this week's challenge from us at AAA.  Please make sure you submit an entry, we can't wait to see what you come up with!!!

I'm also entering my card into the My Favorite Things sketch 239 challenge this month as I used the sketch to create my card :D and the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge.  As technically this isn't an entry for a challenge under AAA (being a member of the DT) I think that's probably still ok...

Happy creating!

Jenny
