AAA Cards New Challenge - Masculine

Hi everyone,

We have a new challenge over at AAA Cards - this week the theme is Masculine, and we have a $20 voucher to give away thanks to our sponsors, Stampendous.  Also joining us this week is guest designer Joyce from Cards-By-The-Sea.  Go check out her blog, she's fabulous and a wonderful inspiration!

So, onto my card this week.  I wanted to make something super CAS, but I also didn't want it to be 'white' white space.  I went for a very dark, almost navy blue cardstock by Papertrey ink and embossed it with the AWESOME We R Memory Keepers Next Level embossing folder.  I then adhered it to a card base of the same color using double sided tape.

I then diecut the word birthday from some bright green glittery fun foam (adhesive on one side) using a die from PTI's Birthday Trio.  I also die cut a PTI speech bubble from Neenah Solar white 80lb card stock and inked the top half edge with Twisted Citron Distress ink.  I embossed a Hello sentiment (which for the life of me I cannot remember which set it was from) using Zing embossing powder in Cricket.

To finish the card I adhered the speech bubble with 3M foam tape, adhered the Birthday die cut over the top and added foam tape behind the part of the word that did not overlap the speech bubble to make sure it lay level.

That's it!  I hope you enjoyed the card, and got inspired to go CAS without actually using white space.   We do hope you'll join in the fun this week!

Have a wonderful day,

Exciting News - Time Out Challenge

Exciting news everybody! I've officially joined the wonder Design Team over at Time Out Challenges - squuuueeeee!!! This is my first post and this week we are CASEing the wonderful Ardyth.  She's awesome and I strongly recommend you check out her blog MASKerade.  Wonderful inspiration.

So for my card I wanted to capture the essence of the layout, color and theme of Ardyth's card, so I went with the black gold and red with flowers.  It gave me an excuse to do some watercoloring too!

For my card, I stamped some blooms from Concord and 9th's  Wildflower  (using Inkadinkdoo masking paper and my MISTI) as well as some of the leaves.  I stamped them using Versafine Onyx Black ink which is waterproof.  I then watercolored them using a mix of Distress inks in reds and orangey tones. For the leaves I used green shades.  Play around!!

When the watercolor was dry I also splattered some Heidi Swapp colour shine mist in gold. FOr the sentiment I diecut the Altenew Thanks die from black cardstock and fun foam for dimension and adhered it using Ranger Multi Medium Matte.

I then mounted the piece onto a small strip of gold glitter card along the bottom and as a base I used Simon Says Stamp's black card stock.

Fabulous inspiration (see below for the image) and we do hope you'll join in with the challenge this week!!!   Make sure you check out the other DT team's cards for inspiration as well!

Have a wonderful day and make sure you take some time out!!

AAA Cards Challenge - Photo Inspiration!

Hi Everyone!

We have a new challenge at AAA Cards and it is a photo inspiration (we don't do those very often)!  There is a $20 gift certificate to Happy Little Stampers from our kind sponsors for the winner of the challenge so be sure to hop on over and enter.

For my card this week I kept it super simple, and it was so quick and easy I made two!  I found some amazing rainbow patterned paper from a lonnnng ago Simon Says Stamp card kit that matched the colors of the photo.  I then die cut it with shape dies - for the first card I used Mama Elephant's City Scape.

I used the Cuttle Bug Swiss Dots embossing folder to emboss the card base (Neenah Solar White 100lb cardstock) as I thought this would replicate the dots on the paper. I then adhered the die cut to the base with liquid adhesive and trimmed off the ends.  I adhered a sticker sentiment to finish!

For my second card I did the same thing, but used the AWESOME WRMK Next Level Wave embossing folder.  I die cut the paper using Papertrey Ink's Sketched Stars and adhered them with liquid adhesive, trimming the edges where they overhung.

The sentiment is from Altenew's Label Love stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink and trimmed out.  I popped it up on foam squares to finish.

I do hope you'll join us over at AAA.  Remember to keep your cards CLEAN and SIMPLE (CAS) - and be sure to check out what the awesome Design Team came up with for some inspiration :)

Have a fabulous weekend

Jenny x
